Job Satisfaction at Aurecon Australia

My role is as a Structural Engineer, working on Construction phase services. My day-to-day responsibilities consists of answering RFIs and resolving on site issues.

Aurecon have been very supportive when it comes to allowing me to work during my semesters at uni, however it is hard to understand what is going on sometimes as I experience major time jumps with projects due to my hours. I am mostly given admin tasks at the moment but context is given with most of it so it helps me to feel like I am helping the broader picture.

Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer. My day-to-day responsibilities are to to network with the team around me to and contribute to projects with spare capacity for work, then work on that project. There are also scheduled team meetings and learning opportunities throughout the week.

I can often go into work not knowing what work I will have to do. Tasks can be very repetitive and low-level - such as editing power points and organising people's CVs. This feels like busywork. When I am doing projects it is alright but I find this is very irregular.

I am a Project Engineer for a rail job, working directly with the client. Aurecon is the technical advisor on this project.

Right now, I'm on rotation in a team and doing tasks that relate directly to my degree. I initially joined in ECA because they were looking for a diverse set of skills and I desperately needed a grad job. Now that I'm able to practice what I studied, I'm so thankful for the flexible nature of Aurecon and the grad program in particular. Best of both worlds! Nitty gritty work, I'm tasked with independently preparing reports, editing, database building etc. These are duties usually associated with higher levels but the team I'm working with have picked up that I'm a fast learner and are throwing all sorts of fun stuff my way.

The team I am in is super supportive. I have been given responsibilities that match my level of experience, yet still challenge me. I am able to design structures for buildings, perform site visits on my own, and coordinate with internal and external teams to design.

I am assisting senior engineer with report, design and calculation work.

As a graduate level process engineer, I provide support on engineering design projects, write reports and memos, complete calcs, attend meetings to provide updates. Some of the day to day work is interesting, but it can get repetitive. There is not as much actual engineering design involved in the job as I expected.

There is the opportunity to work on multiple different projects on a variety of different topics. Day to day can be varied, they also offer a lot of in-company information sessions.

I am a graduate civil engineer in the tunnels team, my work is quite diverse. I got the opportunity to work on different scale projects.

Engineering design and analysis

As an intern the role is mainly editing powerpoints, submitting bids and doing research tasks. In my team there has not been much billable or technical work which has significantly changed work satisfaction.
