Only once a year

Quite hard to get the gauge of promotions and how much it is
Graduate, Wellington - 31 Jul 2024
N/A - cannot comment on this as of now as I have not gone through these processes yet.

Yearly promotions in may every year
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Jul 2024
The company is running in a fiat structure. Don't think there're much promotion opportunities within the company.

Opportunities to become an associate eventually if wanted to and potentially partner further down the track. Need to show you are committed to the company and display leadership
Graduate, New Plymouth - 24 Jul 2024
Unsure yet as its my 1st year, but everyone seems to be promoted (in small increments) yearly before becoming managers/assistant managers after working for a certain period

The company has given us the opportunity to start our studies to become chartered accountants which will open up many opportunities in the future. Being a graduate we have had much experience in getting promotions. But if we ever wanted to challenge ourselves we could always request from our managers a more challenging type of jobs, or to take up more responsibilities.

There are heaps of opportunities for career progression here from becoming a buddy to a grad to support with getting CA/CPA qualified and then from there opportunies can open up with manager roles
Graduate, Christchurch - 12 Jul 2024
Obviously as a grad I would not expect to be promoted this early on in my career. I'm not really sure if there is much space for career progression (i.e. moving up to manager)for those more experienced or not.

I have no idea at the moment but will see as I work here long enough
Graduate, Christchurch - 12 Jul 2024
It seems like people with good experience can move up if they have the passion and desire to do so
Graduate, Christchurch - 12 Jul 2024
Not entirely sure on what it takes to move up apart from moving up as a year group for the initial four years. During this stage there is an opportunity to complete a CA or CPA which helps with career progression.

Every year a performance appraisal is completed with your assigned mentor. This helps to know how managers think you are performing and when you can put in any other information about how you think you are doing yourself. BDO also offers to pay for your CA/CPA, which helps with the progression of your career.

Full of opportunities!
Graduate, Auckland - 04 Nov 2023
Seems very rigid for the first few years
Graduate, Auckland - 02 Nov 2023
There is a natural progression in the first couple of years of working here and then it turns into promotions.
Graduate, Auckland - 27 Oct 2023
BDO has plenty of opportunities for progression. I think one thing that could be done better would be to have reviews based on how well you are performing if you deserve a pay rise or position advancement before the annual review. This means that it can be a long wait until you have a pay rise/advancement.

Easy to promote if you put in the work
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Oct 2023
I want to move departments but they don't take grads so I've got to do my time here first. Progression seems pretty good, my seniors are aware of my ambition it seems like I'll get there so that's promising. Not a guarantee though, may be strung along for a while
