Lots of training provided to staff around social issues and how to be an upstander. Good office culture of celebrating other cultures and allowing people to bring their full selves to work.

There is a strong focus on DE&I and lots of training and events to help people learn about other cultures or the LGBTQI+ community.

Overall, very strong. I think the company needs to be more accepting of people expressing themselves with their fashion though.

bp is an incredibly diverse workplace and champions diversity.

We have various business resource groups focussed on things like sustainability, women in business, LGBTI, and social events. We also have a diversity team that focus on improving KPIs with regard to hiring of certain demographics and also representation in leadership (e.g. percentage of senior leadership that are female). This commitment also comes through in things like mat and pat leave. However, pat leave I believe is still only 4 weeks, which is quite low compared to other, more progressive policies.

I'd say overall bp is very good in this space and they do what they say they'll do.

Focus on diversity for recruitment for both women and aboriginals. High retention rate at the company. Company provides careers leave.
Graduate, Melbourne - 22 May 2017
More visibility of commitment to diversity in terms of women and ethnic minorities. For my intake the graduates are all women and from culturally diverse backgrounds (Aboriginal, Chinese, Singaporean, And South American). There seems to be good retention of female employees after maternity leave. There is probably more diversity in Sales & Marketing (particularly gender and promotion) than in Finance (more traditional).
Graduate, Melbourne - 22 May 2017
There is a very clear focus on equality with a large number of female employees and support for women to rise to higher level roles.

My company has a big commitment to gender diversity and to the indigenous community. There is a women's society and several senior leaders are women. The company is flexible with parenting and allows people to work from home if needed.

Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Jan 2015
BP is VERY committed to diversity, however I think that there still is some way to go, as with most other companies. I've only experienced the recruitment and retention parts of the company out of the other areas listed and those were positive experiences. It is hard to comment on other areas having not experienced them.

BP (at least at my site) is very much an equal opportunity employer. There seem to be just as many men as women on the site, and people from a very wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. There is no obstacle to employment due to sexuality, with everybody given the same opportunities and the culture being very accepting. BP does well in supporting its staff when time off is required for carer's or maternity leave, and allows flexibility in working hours in the follow up to these situations.
Graduate, Perth/Kwinana - 12 Jan 2015
Very impressed by the provisions for maternity leave and part time work. Also by group support for LGBT staff and ethnic diversity within the company.

It doesn't matter whether you are from a less privileged background, as long as you are the right candidate for the job, and it is up to you to prove that.
