Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Promotions don't seem to happen very often and depends on the team's budget. Some teams have a higher turnover rate or increases in budget and therefore have the ability to offer permanent positions. However, for the most part Graduates will be in the rotation program for 2 years and be offered associate or junior positions and may get further promotions depending on their performance reviews.

Don't know much about this.

As a graduate, I got treated as one of their own. They provided me support, would answer my questions and I got exposed to actually being hands on within the team. In my fourth month, I was already part of the schedule and had responsibilities. At Cenitex I did not feel like there was any sort of limits for learning and getting work done, if the team felt like I was ready to do a certain task they would allow me to do it and trust me with it. This allowed me to grow and secure a position a permanent in the team as a Cyber Security Analyst.

I can't comment on this this early in the grad program. Though from what I've heard, Cenitex does make an attempt to create positions for people when needed.

Our graduate program takes 2 years to complete.

As a graduate with a 24 month contract, it takes a while to be offered a permanent position near the end of the contract, though you're always able to apply internally in that time. Also as a graduate, the amount of time you spend in a team may not be enough to get a place there if you're new to the field. It also comes down to if they can afford to put you in a role as funding is important, the best chances are near the end of the contract and you still aren't guaranteed a position, but they do try to open up positions for you and usually most of the graduates will stay with Cenitex except those that aren't interested in the available roles

Each financial year you get a progression payment if you have been in your role the whole year and have met your development goals.

In terms of a graduate, as Cenitex is still growing in bringing young talent in and its learning from somethings that they must have done in the past itself. There are new roles for less experienced people coming up with few roles here and there but we would expect more young talent as that would bring new perspective into the company.

To progress pay-grade increments, you will need to meet all of your performance goals each year. Consistent effort and a humble, patient attitude will bode well for promotions.
Graduate, Melbourne - 15 Jul 2022
There seems to always be a position you can fill if you can make your way up there. The public sector also tries extremely hard to diffuse conflicts of interest and give employees a fair chance at position, you are not entitled to a different role here, you will have to apply for it internally. The ability to move up in pay scale within your role is good to have, but as usual, you must demonstrate your ability.

I've seen a lot of reviews about issues with career progression within the company. I was strongly against being told in my first week that after 12 months as a graduate there might not be a place for me at the company afterwards. This ultimately drove a few grads to find jobs elsewhere. My graduate buddy had left the company due to lack of promotion possibilities. I think its important at an earlier stage to look at ways graduates can move up the ranks.

There seems to be a lot of opportunity to move around within the organisation if you desire. People on leave and secondments also open up opportunities within the organisation. However, I am unsure how difficult it is to move directly up within the organisation.
