What's your background?

Born & raised in mighty Palmerston North! Before joining DHL I completed a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Marketing.

What's your job about?

As an integration analyst, my main role is to ensure DHL’s core applications can effectively communicate with customer systems via various file transfer protocols. We also support the business in configuring applications for our team to use and providing ongoing changes and improvements to these applications to enhance day-to-day operations.

Also dealing with the occasional ticket (always raise a ticket!)

How has the Graduate Program contributed to your journey?

The Graduate Program has set me up to succeed in my current role. Understanding the whole business and how it all hangs together, as well as meeting and learning from numerous people, each with their range of expertise continues to pay dividends in my role in IT to this day.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Absolutely! I do not have a formal IT qualification, but I am sure that anyone who has gone through the graduate program and brings the right attitude would be an invaluable addition to my team.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

Innovating with new technologies, such as implementing robots for automation.

What are the limitations of your job?

Standardization across the wide range of applications and business requirements that we must meet.

Three pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

1. Don’t think your major locks you into a career path for life! As much as I enjoyed studying marketing, I wish I had known just how many doors would open for me in the coming years so I wouldn’t have stressed so much about finding a job that fit my studies.
2. Grab as many opportunities as you can.
3. Build relationships with as many people as you can, both in study and at work. You never know when you might need some advice or a helping hand!
