The Eagle Technology 1-year GIS Graduate Programme based in Wellington is about unleashing your potential within the spatial industry in New Zealand.
As a GIS Graduate at Eagle Technology, you will:
- Discover and Explore the latest geospatial information technology within the ArcGIS System.
- Get to work on real-life projects in collaboration with our customers, our customers represent a diverse community and all industries including Engineering, Agriculture, Central Government and Local Government.
- Start the programme by participating in the Eagle Technology Geospatial Accelerated Learning Programme (GALoP).
- Rotate through all the Eagle Technology GIS teams to learn how we enable our customers to be successful with the ArcGIS System.

Reviews
(By the time I've finish writing this, I've switched to a different team as part of the graduate programme). In Technical Solutions, it varies from day to day. Generally, my day to day responsibilities in this team is to work on projects presented by our clients and what customer opportunities we have with the different apps. This includes create and finishing up a project (with multiple ArcGIS applications) and doing a demonstration with a particular client off-site. Besides this, each graduate have one project that they will work on that is based on their passion (after the intensive GIS six-weeks training at the start of the programme). Most of my role has been similar to an assistant to my colleagues who've been here longer, but a few of the projects has been self-led, which was a great challenge that I've endured.
I would like some more jobs and responsibilities as sometimes I feel like I'm just filling in time with training.
I look after GIS software and the infrastructure it runs on as a service offering to our clients. This covers tuning services to perform optimally, maintenance of ETL tasks, installing, upgrading, patching software. Reporting, analytics, troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, responding to log errors, monitoring, providing recommendations, database maintenance, backup/restore, provisioning and managing cloud services relating to client GIS.

Sometimes there are short timelines to finish work
Paid lower in comparison to similar roles in the industry
Workload can ramp up at times to very high levels compared to any other role I've had. Not necessarily a minus except when spread too thin on tasks
