Management at Fisher & Paykel Appliances

8.3
8.3 rating for Management, based on 50 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
I'm very happy with Ben; he's supportive and provides the necessary tools for the work, and he's understanding of my personal wants and needs. I don't work with him directly, so I wouldn't call him a mentor. However, he has placed me in a team that provides a lot of support. Generally, he's open to conversation despite his often-serious appearance. He doesn't offer feedback on performance, neither praise nor recognition, but I prefer to let my work speak for itself.

My relationship with my manager is great, and she is an incredible mentor, and I think she has a great approach to communication and resolving problems. She leads the great culture of celebrating success within our team. Only limit is how busy she is – which limits her capacity to support me.

Very accessible especially given that we have weekly progress meetings. Interestingly I've had three different functional leaders but all of them are approachable and good at alignment, communication, and giving feedback. I like that they look out for our personal goals and ambitions.

My functional leader (Boss), is amazing, always there to help the team when needed. Always supports and I feel completely fine to tell her about any issues or problems I am having. There is no worry of being told off. She is an amazing mentor. I should note it is also very easy to talk to the higher ups at the company, everyone is very friendly and open to talking. From my experience they seem genuinely curious to see what you are working on and often seem to relate to when they started.

Stephen Greig is the best functional leader, give the man a raise!

Very accessible; They are quite busy but I can always flick them a message on teams if there's anything urgent to talk about; We have a review meeting every week to discuss my action- anything good/not so good, and how can they help me to make improvements. We also have a quarterly check in to talk about the growth I've made, and career aspirations etc; There is a quarterly survey to provide any feedback on the leaders.

Managers are very accessible. Easy to walk up to a leader/manager and talk with them about anything. Lots of great mentors, especially within your own team who are more than happy to assist you. Internal communication, performance feedback and praise are heavily promoted in this company. There are systems in place that allow you to have weekly and quarterly development sessions with your leader.

Really happy with my team leader and have been shown a lot of support with great feedback and easy communication. We have regular catch ups and quarterly check-ins.

My team leader is amazing. He is very friendly and helpful. I have found that every FL as well as just about anyone is very approachable. Good feedback on work, and have weekly one-on-one meetings to see how you're doing, how is progress, discuss goals and plans, need any help etc. The only issue is that the team leaders get very busy. But they will pair you up with someone else in the team as a buddy mentor to help you with the day-to-day things.

I work closely with my Functional Leader but have little to no contact with their manager. They are an excellent mentor and an inspiration. They regularly provide praise, constructive feedback, recognition, and I always feel supported by them.

I am satisfied with my manager. He is a good communicator and it is evident that he tries to bring everyone on board and make sure everyone is on the same page.

My direct manager is great, she has fostered an environment where I feel comfortable and happy to approach her about anything I need. She is a great mentor. Would be cool to have a bit more communication with higher-ups!

My manager is really knowledge as he has been working on the DishDraw for 20+ years. The management methods are really good

Its hard to say atm due to going in-between two FLs, though when starting it very much felt like the FL had checked out from the team.

My managers are very accessible since I can easily talk to them face-to-face. We have a good amount of meetings to communicate specific details of what we are actively working on, and to discuss projects and future plans and projections.

Direct Management - fantastic. Upper Management - seems to be disconnected from the rest of the company, and while I don't have strong opinions myself the sentiment I have seen around the office is that there is a bit of tension between engineering leaders and upper management.

Direct leader have daily interactions and are heavily involved in day to day work. Higher up managers have little interaction
