Application Process & Interviews at Honeywell Australia and New Zealand

I had a streamlined and expedited process great communication between hiring manager, hr team and myself. Smoothest I've ever had. Process involved aptitude testing, recorded interview questions, face-to-face interview.

Assessment centre: In person huddle with other prospective graduates that focuses on a specific challenge to be solved in groups. The activity is engaging and fun and offers a chance to talk to previous graduates at the company about their experience. 3. Final interview with your prospective boss.

Online assessments, assessment centre and follow-up interview

Hiring process was good. The process consisted of submitting your resume, cover letter, and academic transcript in a job application, after which if you made it through the initial screening you would need to complete a polymetric assessment and online recorded interview. Upon completion of this your responses would be reviewed and the recruitment team would shortlist people who they wanted to attend the assessment centre. In the assessment centre you will given a introduction to the company and the sort of work it does, and then you would split into groups of 4-5 where you brainstorm possible solutions to a scenario/problem statement. Here you will have a couple of managers/senior engineers watching/assessing your soft skills, and technical problem-solving skills. This will give them great insight into your personality and capabilities. This will be followed by one-one interviews with senior engineers or managers. The assessment centres run over a couple of weeks across the states in Australia. Once they have been completed the recruitment team along with team managers will make a selection of the candidates they want to offer positions to, and then reach out via a phone call to gauge if you are still interested and begin the process of officially recruiting you to the company.

I think the gap between first apply for the role and then going to the assessment centre was several months, I had totally forgotten I had applied. But I think that was a once off situation. The process after the assessment centre was definitely expedited and I was told I got the job rather quickly. The assessment were interesting, and required collaboration with other group members, whilst people were assessing you from the side. A little daunting at first, but soon you adapt.

Same process to most engineering companies but did take a while to sort out all the paperwork at the end which was a bit stressful.

Hiring process is amazing with Honeywell but the onboarding company from Philippines is very incompetent with people not even reading emails properly. Had to send the same documents a few times because the person was not reading her emails and looking at attachments.

The Interview Process is fairly typical for an engineering company. Comprises of Phone Interview, Online Assessments, Group Interview and individual Interview

Multiple stages during the interviews and assessments. Three online assessment and three interviews (1 x phone and 2 x in person). Response time was quite fast when progressing through the stages compared to other organisations.

Generic questions regarding past work, studies and interests. Some different questions were: what do you think Honeywell does? why do you want to work at Honeywell? why would you be a good fit at Honeywell?

The question revolved around your motivations of joining the company, whether you intend on staying at the company for long, what your interests are and the alignment to the role they're hiring for.

Related to your education background. Nothing too in-depth. Just basic understanding of your educational domain to figure out your real interest and STAR based questions.

Know your personal goals and a little about Honeywell and how they differ from other companies in similar industries.

Try to think of standout moments working in team or doing project work; use these to show you're a team player and perfect for a projects environment. Ask plenty of questions and engage interest in the hardware and technology.

Know what Honeywell does in the Region/locations you are interested to work in. Think if that is what you see yourself working in.

- Ensure resume is up to date and lists your abilities/skills, and work experience. Ensure formatting and layout is correct. - Create a tailored cover letter to the job description of the graduate position you are applying to. - Take your time and specifically address the questions asked during the recorded online interview. This is a key step which will help the recruitment team decide if you get an offer you a place in the assessment centres. - The assessment centre is where you'll need to shine and put your best foot forward in both the group activity and one-one interview. Here you should display good communication skills alongside adept technical skills which an engineering organisation will be seeking. - Applying to Honeywell is very competitive. Bring your best self to the assessment centre and stand out.

Prepare for Technical Questions: Be ready to discuss your technical skills and experiences in detail. Practical examples of past projects or problems you've solved can be very impactful. Showcase Soft Skills: Demonstrate your ability to work in teams, your problem-solving skills, and your adaptability. These are highly valued at Honeywell. Ask Questions: Prepare thoughtful questions about the role, the team, and the company's future projects. This shows your engagement and eagerness to be part of the team.

Do more research on the role and understand what you're really looking for.

Show that you are capable and highly interested in working for the company.

relax as much as you can the managers/people interviewing you are just people so try not that intimidate you to much. learn as much as you can about Honeywell before so you know its something you want to do.

I had used chat gpt to come up with interview questions based on the job description. I think that combined with the STAR interview framework helped me prepare well.

Know what you want to do within the company, be specific in which projects/type of work you want to do.

Research the company well. It's massive so can be a bit confusing. Understand the different verticals of the company and where you want to work because it's easy to get lost in a big company like Honeywell.

Familiarise yourself with the STAR format Prepare good situations you want to talk about and which are applicable to multiple typical interview questions

Be involved in events and groups outside of university. Any experience outside of standard university projects/studies is beneficial. University only experiences in team work and projects etc will not differentiate the applicant. Volunteering/side businesses/casual jobs and sports teams all prove ability to commit to tasks and ability to work in team environments.

Read up on the company and their product offerings. They are looking for good teamwork, not necessarily the right answer.

Use the STAR method - know examples relating to the questions

Research the company and scope. Understand the market we are in and show that you are interested in that sort of work. Anything related to IoT is desirable as it is the direction the company is heading.

Be able and open to talk about different experiences you've had whilst working in teams, different environments (school, part time job, other jobs). It's fine to show weaknesses, as long as you can show actions that can help / mitigate it. Be eager to learn. Know about the company / technical information. Practice coding problems (find heaps online) specifically for a software development company.

Strong emphasis on "systems" engineering, will need to have a big picture mindset. How to deal with customers.
