Training & Personal Development at MYOB

Grads are assigned a mentor who spends a significant portion of their time to help in the learning process

Throughout o-week we have learnt about the company itself but also the technical side such as technologies and frameworks we use daily. We've also completed a compliance programme in which we've learnt about laws and regulations relevant to us.

Early stage of grad program focusses on building on current skills and bringing quality of work up to what is expected from a professional developer. Access to external learning resources to further skills.

The whole point of our grad program is to learn so we have lots of opportunities to learn. Informal training involves things like access to linkedin learning and we can often request whatever workshop we would like from members of the grad community. It terms of formal training, we have a learning budget that we can use to pay for books and courses.

Structured training & development programme, with the flexibility to explore areas of interest.

If required, the company organises technical workshops (programming language, software development concepts). We also have learning buddies in addition to mentors. Because we have such a large pool of mentors and learning buddies, we get to learn from a wide range of personalities with different skill sets.

Tech talks every Tuesday. Can reach out to anyone for help, including high management.

FMA is a great place to learn and nothing is out of reach

We used LinkedIn learning and have other training allocated to teams as and when needed

Graduate program offers 2 full time mentors in the initial stage of the program (first 6 months) which was invaluable for my learning.

they work on a feedback basis, so they trial new methods and if the feedback isn't great then they try something else.

We got put through a 2 week java bootcamp which helped kick start our learning

Some of the external training providers that MYOB partners with wouldn't be my first pick, but the internal training I've done has been amazing. We had an incredible workshop on giving and receiving feedback which dramatically improved my communication skills and allowed me to search out feedback that created rapid improvement in my technical skills.

We have learning labs, including technical training and non-technical stuff as well. Like AWS, CI/CD training, Yoga, career planning, etc
