Career Prospects at NAB Australia

We have heard that it is hard to roll off the grad program so we are all keeping an eye out for jobs now and working hard on networking

There is room to grow here, and you can move around the bank.

Movement and growth is encouraged.

Employees are recognised for the hard work and initiative that they take which gives them the opportunity to further our career development.

Promotion opportunities seems to be based largely on role availability (i.e., if someone in the next position up leaves / moves teams) rather than individual. Does also seem to vary by area / manager though.

There's always people being promoted and moving around. However that only seems to be within Victoria, the office im in which is interstate, only seen a small handful of people being promoted or moved teams

Endless opportunities to gain new jobs and pay rises. Staff are usually promoted quickly and staff receive good pay rises with each progression

Not too sure yet as I'm still about halfway through the grad program but it seems like near the end of the program there will be more info sessions and communications about open opportunities

Grads are well respected in the business.

Lots of opportunity for lateral and vertical movement. Gain adequate experience, make proper networks etc

There's a guaranteed role for those who complete the grad program which is very comforting. There's flexibility to explore different areas of the business and decide which path you'd like to pursue.

As the structure of the company is flattening, it is not always easy to move up the ranks in the company. It is often the case that you need to take side steps to gain more skills in order to advance your career.

From what we have seen from previous grads, it looks like graduate move up pretty well within the company.

Promotion and career advancement is based on merit with many young managers within the organisation. There is, however, limited scope to be promoted within certain areas of the organisation.

Graduates are "guaranteed" to get at least an analyst level job after the graduate program but following this, I'm unsure about the possibilities.

It is easy to move up to an extent, however NAB has a relatively flat structure.

Althought it will inevitably take time and effort, it is definitely easy to move up the ranks. You just need to be motivated and constantly exceed expectations in your capabilities.

I think it is quite achievable to roll off the graduate program to a decent role where you can move up the ranks to a manager within 5 or so years. As for moving in to people leader and executive roles I am not sure.
