Do not be afraid to push yourself outside your comfort zone and embrace any opportunities that come your way.

I started as a process engineering graduate over 7 years ago at NZ Steel.

At the time, graduates rotated through three different plants over 3 years, the rotations are great as it gives graduates exposure to different types of roles, and business units and mean you get to meet a lot of people in those initial years. I have also been fortunate to change roles outside of the programme which has given me valuable leadership and project management experience, this has led me to my current role as Kilns Operations Superintendent.

A bit of advice I would give to a graduate entering NZ Steel is to not be afraid to push yourself outside your comfort zone and to embrace any opportunities that come your way. Embracing new opportunities has allowed me to develop my skills and my career.
