Established in 1987, North is very proud to be a fully employee-owned business with a head office in Tuggerah, New South Wales and offices in Newcastle, Orange, Dubbo and Brisbane.
Our purpose is around Trust. That means being open, honest and transparent with clients; ensuring subcontractors are treated with fairness, respect and paid on time; guaranteeing approachability, openness, support and career development opportunities for employees; and supporting appropriate organisations in our community.
At North, our culture is the foundation on which our business is supported. It's what we build on with every project, every client, and every employee. Our workforce is largely made up of long-term employees who know and understand what working with North means, and who share the same values and goals.
In 2020, North was ranked #17 Best Workplaces in Australia (100 – 999 employees) as part of the Great Places to Work study with 98% of North employees supporting the statement that “This is a great place to work”.
Whilst we have a lot of fun along the way, we are dedicated to developing our junior employees with 20% of our workforce either an apprentice, cadet or trainee.
In recognition of this commitment, and the many programs we have implemented to support the development of our future leaders, we were awarded The Australian Medium Employer of the Year Award at the Australian Training Awards in 2018, recognition that we are immensely proud of particularly considering the rigorous judging process.
As a business, we are trying to lead the way towards a higher level of accountability amongst players in our industry by putting our values front and centre, right along with our demonstrated history of excellence.
It goes without saying that, as a conscientious construction company, we care about sustainability both on- and off-site. We advocate for, and build to, Green Star rated standards, reuse as much material onsite as we can and always try to do our bit for the environment from recycling where we can to moving to online platforms to reduce paper waste.
We are committed to the construction industry – to making it better and more diverse. We work hard to spread the word about the opportunities a career in construction can provide, particularly for women. We are actively engaged in career awareness events, provide a number of workplace learning programs for students, offer training to those across the business and participate in a variety of women-in-construction initiatives.
The North family and culture of care extends to our local community. North has been a corporate sponsor to many organisations and initiatives including multiple sporting teams, Rural Aid, NSW Rural Fire Service and the Salvation Army, to name a few. Our team also gets stuck in personally to raise money, gather donations, and participate in events for groups such as Coast Shelter, The Glen Centre and Oxfam, also just to name a few!
The role requires well developed numeracy and literacy skills, high organisation, and the ability to work under pressure. To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to work as an effective member of a team, a strong work ethic and the potential opportunity to continue your studies whilst working full time in the industry.
North is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workforce. We offer flexible working arrangements and place significant focus on the development of our team.
Students who have completed the first year of their Construction Management or Construction Project Management degree are eligible to apply. Students in other year groups are also welcome to apply.
