Suncorp's Graduate Program is a two-year accelerated development program designed to equip you with the tools you need to launch your career in the corporate world. As an Accounting Graduate, you will help drive financial outcomes through the provision of specialist finance and advice services, with one eye always on the future, and provide a service that preserves and creates value for our organisation.

You will experience four six-month rotations within different Accounting Areas. Rotations could include: Financial Reporting, Management Reporting, Finance Systems and more technical areas such as Tax, Strategy and Performance Management. In determining your rotations, your preferences are considered in addition to structured learning, coaching, mentorship and financial study support for the duration of the program, to ensure we maximise your potential and can work towards your career aspirations at Suncorp.

We are looking for Graduates who:

  •  Are seeking to kick start their career in financial services and are eager to proactively participate in their own career journey;
  •  Are motivated, flexible, resilient and able to work collaboratively within diverse teams;
  •  Are proficient in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  •  For this graduate program, to be "immediately eligible" to complete CA/CPA qualifications you will need to have successfully completed an accredited degree or qualification as listed by your chosen professional body;
  •  Are Australian / New Zealand Citizens or Australian/NZ Permanent Residents at the time of application. Please refer to our website for further eligibility criteria.

Pros and cons of working at Suncorp New Zealand

Pros

  • I love the culture and the flexibility we have in our working arrangements. I also love the exposure we get at graduates to so many areas of the business.

  • Great community within the company & especially the graduates themselves. A large amount of opportunities to try out different things & discover which type of work you enjoy the most.

  • Suncorp offers continuous support and opportunities to its graduates. I love being able to network with a large group of people in a variety of roles across the business.

  • Supportive and kind colleagues, flexibility in work, growth and pathway opportunities.

  • Hybrid, flexible work - sometimes you don't get a good night's sleep - and being able to skip the commute is fantastic for my mental health.

Cons

    • The technology experience, there are multiple portals to request access to things, and if you mess one up it will take weeks to solve. Getting set up at the start of your role can take weeks to be able to complete your work independently because of this.

    • Sometimes not given enough work.

    • There is innovation lag, but there is a lot being done in the innovation space to make up for some lost time.

    • Difficulty finding permanent employment after a Graduate Programme.

    • It is difficult to be satisfied as there is no opportunity to grow my salary outside of inflationary pay bumps in the Suncorp program.
