Graduate Property Consultant at The Property Group
6:40 AM
My alarm bell rings this is my cue to wake up and get ready for the day ahead. I get out of bed and head straight to the wardrobe where I pick my outfit for the day. I pick something that is smart casual. Then breakfast before my colleague who I carpool with arrives at my house to pick me up.
8:00 AM
My colleague and I arrive at work, say good morning to everyone as we make our way over to our desks. I unpack my things, head to the kitchen where I put my lunch in the fridge and make myself a tea, I go through my emails, check my calendar and then get ready for the day ahead.
8:30 AM
My manager arrives at work and we have a quick chat about what tasks are ahead of us for the day.
9:00 AM
I have my first meeting for the day – it’s our fortnightly property team catch up and each team member goes through their current projects they are working on.
10.00 AM
Some of the people in the office are heading out to grab a quick coffee so I tag along. Nothing beats walking to the coffee shop only a couple of meters away from the beach!
10:30 AM
I head back to my desk, and I see I have an email from a colleague asking to me to draft a Request for Quote for a project they are working on. Once drafted and peer-reviewed, I can email these out.
12:30 PM
Time for lunch! I eat my lunch in the kitchen area with my colleagues, then I head outside to catch up with a friend for a walk around the waterfront.
2:00 PM
After firing off a few more emails, I have a team meeting with the other graduates around the country. This is an opportunity for us to discuss what is going well for us, any topics we specifically want more development sessions on and to organise any sessions from people within the company.
3:00 PM
All my meetings are done for the day, so it’s time for me to head out for the afternoon to do a quick site visit for a project. I have been asked to take some photos of my colleague who works in the Palmerston office.
4:30 PM
I get back to the office, send out a couple of emails and save the photos to the correct folder. I have a quick chat with my team about what I noticed and start packing up for the day.
5:00 PM
I leave the office for the day and head straight to the local park where I can go for a quick run in the sunshine. Getting out and exercising is important when you have been sitting down the majority of the day it helps me get my mind off work and recharge for tomorrow.
