As a Graduate, I work within Commercial and as of recently, the Tertiary Education Project sectors of the company. My role and day-to-day responsibilities include workflow assistance with RFQ documentation, Stakeholder Engagement, minute taking for a range of weekly minutes, site visits and progress walks, financial management (progress claims and cost tracking), and more.

Able to contribute to a diverse range of work, responsibilities are predominantly repetitive and of low importance

Skills are not acknowledged or recognised. Therefore, I am given work that I am neither good at or passionate about and then I am given lectures about not being passionate about my project. I have contributed heavily to the company over the first couple of years at the company, however this went unrewarded as my peers that question the system less got promoted over me.

Pros and cons of working at TSA Riley

Pros

  • The office culture and work moral are genuinely and consistently high. It is very clear that the majority, if not all Project Managers at the company enjoy what they do and are passionate about the sector they work in.

  • TSA Riley provides good platform/resources and good projects which helps build up strong foundation of the start of the career.

  • People manager system offers great guidance especially for junior to mid-level to have a clear pathway to getting up to what we want.

  • The Brisbane office got a brand-new office in June 2024. The office is large, and contributes to collaborating more, with some individual focus space and a range of group meeting rooms.

  • As a Graduate, I am aware I will be promoted after completing 1 year at TSA Riley... There are clear instructions and requirements to be promoted, so everything is clear.

Cons

    • If pay review can be every half a year that would be much better.

    • Training is predominantly self-directed and unstructured. More structure and guidance would be beneficial for the graduate program.

    • Pay is so poor and so unnegotiable it is not funny. No bonuses are paid.

    • Working hours are being decent as a Graduate, roughly 8 hours for most days. There may be a day where you work 2 hours extra... I do see most of the senior level individuals work more than 8 hours, possibly 10 hours a day.

    • There are cliques that form all over the company and politics is becoming rife.
