Founded in 1850, TSB is a 100% independent New Zealand-owned Bank headquartered in Taranaki. TSB is a real New Zealand bank providing Kiwis with everyday accounts, home loans, savings, investments and more. From humble beginnings in New Plymouth, the Bank has gone from strength to strength to now offer a truly nationwide service. It has achieved this by putting its customers first - which is still at the heart of everything it does.

The bank is owned by a philanthropic organisation, Toi Foundation, via its 100% ownership of Toi Foundation Holdings Limited. The bank pays an annual dividend which helps to support the Foundation in its work within the Taranaki community. The Foundation offers grants to eligible community organisations and individuals for charitable, cultural, health, education, philanthropic and recreational activities. TSB typically pays around 20% of its net profit before tax in dividends each year to Toi Foundation to support its work. Across the country, TSB has enhanced its community connections through robust and diverse sponsorship activity, volunteerism, community grants and support programmes. Significant activities in this space include:

  • Entering into a multi-year national major partnership with Surf Life Saving New Zealand
  • Providing $250,000 in grants through the TSB Good Stuff! kick-starter fund to support Kiwis with great ideas to generate good outcomes for New Zealand communities
  • Partnering with the charity Kiwis for Kiwi to help turn around the plight of New Zealand's national bird -TSB employees take on the role of TSB Kiwi Couriers as part of the Bank's community volunteer leave programme
  • Being a founding partner for Tūranga, the new Christchurch central library and community space, via a partnership with the Christchurch City Foundation
  • Partnering with WOMAD and supporting the Taranaki community to benefit from this event which brings the world to Taranaki and sharing Taranaki with the world
  • Sponsoring New Zealand's leading light festival, the TSB Festival of Lights, which lights up New Plymouth's Pukekura Park and attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year
