Some of the training is more useful that other training we receive. However the on the job learning I have received through my experience as part of my team has been invaluable. If you are looking for specific types of professional development (eg. profs for law or certain courses which are not free) nine times out of ten it won't be funded by the graduate programme.

Training provided by the programme has been helpful, if not somewhat inconvenient at times. On the job training has been very good, and my host manager has gone out of his way to offer me personalized tutoring in project management.

A few training programs were provided within the graduate program which offered better work ethics, mind reinforcement training such as growth mindset training, etc. Relating to work, it will depend on your team and whether you will require it in your team. For me, this meant a lot of site visits where I could experience real life contracting and construction issues as well as seeing different engineering methods being applied in real life which allows for better knowledge retention.

But often hard to find time, budget or find out about some opportunities.

There can definitely be more learning and development resources in-house than there currently is. investing in upskilling existing staff, in stead of depending on external hiring, can help the organisation grow stronger and be 10 times more cost effective.

There are many learning opportunities here. The organisation has learning modules and workshops which can help upskill. In the graduate programme, we've had workshops and online sessions to develop our skills too.
