Available Opportunities
We have Paetahi roles across New Zealand to start in early 2024.
We’re looking for a Graduate:
Our Graduate roles are for those completing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree by the end of 2023 with less than one year of relevant work experience as a Graduate (internships do not count toward the one-year maximum).
If you have more than one year of work experience as a Graduate, please instead apply for a role of interest.
What’s on offer for me?
We don’t simply employ Graduates; we foster and enrich them. Naturally, there is a lot to learn, and you are likely to be guided through complex software packages, team briefings, and client updates from the start.
You’ll also have access to our award-finalist Graduate Development Programme. With our two-year Graduate Programme, you own your career and drive your success. We provide you with the tools, support, and environment to flourish.
As a WSP Paetahi, you’ll have:
What will I do?
On a day-to-day basis, the life of a Graduate at WSP typically starts off in the morning with a walk, bike, or drive to the office and then responding to any urgent client emails. Beyond that, anything could happen!
You could be involved in report writing, modelling, or design calculations in 3D software packages. Your day could also involve visiting site and liaising with contractors, discussing options for concept designs with colleagues, responding to client requests for information, or meetings with the team about the scope and progress of projects.
How do I apply?
It’s simple, just click the apply button to begin your application.
Make sure you have an updated resume and your most recent transcript (don’t worry we know you haven’t graduated yet) to upload with your application.
We’re keen to know what Graduate role you are most interested in and where you’d like to work. In the application form, you’ll be able to share your discipline and locations preferences so we can match you up to the role of your choice.
NOTE: Please do not submit your application on this platform, as it will not be accepted.
What’s next?
Keep a close eye on your email (don’t forget to check your junk or spam folders) for updates on the progress of your application.
My day to day sees me perform project management tasks such as subcontractor management, oversite over site works to ensure all works are done as per design. As well as this I look after tendering, planning, and procureing items for future works.
I feel like I am contributing to my community/country through the projects I am involved with, and that I am doing work that is meaningful to my own career development, the business itself and to society. I am also involved with a committee at work, so my role is not just limited to being an engineer; I also have other committee responsibilities.
Rail engineer mainly sitting in project or site offices doing site inspections, designs and verification type of tasks.

The amazing people! Everyone is so lovely and genuinely wants to help.
Good flexible working - can work from home, another NZ office, or potentially even overseas.
Opportunities to work and gain experience on large-scale projects.
Great communication between senior staff and graduates.
Worldwide and nationwide opportunities and connections, exciting projects and knowledgeable seniors.
Workload fluctuates, sometimes it's busy, other times light with little to do.
Utilization targets put pressure on training and development time.
The pay is less than what I believe I should be getting for my role.
Parking is an issue, especially with the office located in the CBD.
There aren't many negatives worth mentioning.
