Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Automatic progression through the graduate program. Some people seem to go far quickly. Pay seems to be massively lacking in my country compared to the level of responsibility expected
Graduate, Auckland - 20 Aug 2024
although it seems like there are pathways we could follow within the company and through different offices and branches, the opportunities of promotion is quite conservative in a way as the companies in this industry does. not like IT where you suddenly get bonus and promotions as early stage. this industry requires experiences that's life long.

I am unsure about how easy it is to progress as I am in the graduate program and that is just ensuring I become a professional. some small things about further beyond have been mentioned
Graduate, Christchurch - 01 Aug 2024
We get a review 6 months after joining.

There are multiple career directions and paths that are available and there has been good communication around the expectations for these through the graduate program and AECOM University. It is often self driven so for example you may not be offered to join a project management course, but if you express interest and ask your manager about it they are happy to help. The self and manager evaluations and talks are a great way to communicate your goals to your manager and work together to find a way for you to achieve them. AECOM also has a great mentoring program which is the perfect space to ask a more senior person about career progression and receive guidance if you need it

I don't think I've been here long enough to truly know, but from what I've seen AECOM hands out promotions to those who fulfil the criteria for the new position
Graduate, Hamilton - 30 Jul 2024
Progressing from grad to pro is just a matter of time and ensuring you utilize the opportunities to learn during this time. After pro is seems as though its more self-orientated as to what company route you would like to go down.
Graduate, Hamilton - 30 Jul 2024
On rails for the first three years, and then promotions based on performance reviews. Progression has been portrayed as slow and staggered
Graduate, Wellington - 30 Jul 2024
I am satisfied by the promotion opportunities I believe there is a performance review every year (could be twice a year) to track your progress! I honestly can't comment too much on this as I am still reasonably new to the company so will have to see how it pans out.

After 2 years on grad program, you will automatically get promoted as professional.
Graduate, Wellington - 12 Jul 2024
So far I'm happy with growth opportunities. Success should be rewarded more for that 10 mark
Graduate, Auckland - 10 Jul 2024
As graduates our process is pretty linear to principle level, you would have to be performing poorly not to make the transition. Our P&R process relates to goals set at the end of the year, which we are assessed on our progress at the middle point of the year. You need to make progress towards these and use the attitudes that are incorporated at AECOM to make the progression
Graduate, Hamilton - 09 Jul 2024
I haven't fully experienced the promotion process, so far I have just done the self-evaluation for the P+R review, which is straightforward.
Graduate, Hamilton - 09 Jul 2024
As the grad program is only 2 years, I will have completed this in October 2024. I understand the program is for the first 2 years and that there is little margins for difference in annual salary after the first graduate year.
Graduate, Wellington - 09 Jul 2024
The promotion process for graduates to professionals is quite straight forward. Anything past that I cannot comment on as I am unsure.
Graduate, Hamilton - 09 Jul 2024
Working diligently and building up your connections with your peers and (most importantly) the graduate cohort you are with. It all helps when you are looking for a promotion in terms of recommendations by others along with positive feedback.
Graduate, Auckland - 10 Nov 2023
Our grad program is 2 years and then we get promoted to professional - then roughly after 5 years you get promoted to Senior. So the career progression is good just the PAY IS BAD
Graduate, Auckland - 09 Nov 2023
The graduate project has no wriggle room and is a set in stone two year program. I think this should be reassessed dependent on the overall graduates as some do a lot more than others.
Graduate, Wellington - 09 Nov 2023
I am satisfied with the structure however the review after one year was a bit disappointing remuneration wise
Graduate, Christchurch - 09 Nov 2023
After 2 years of being in the Graduate Programme, you will immediately be promoted to Professional, which I find really cool!
