High level training and policy training is good. Training specific to my discipline seems to be lacking, other than being shown the way by a more senior colleague but it is hard to comment at this point as a grad of only 6 months
Graduate, Auckland - 20 Aug 2024
A lot of the training material is not related to the work I am doing.
Graduate, Auckland - 12 Aug 2024
I have learnt so much on the job and have ahead excellent support and patience to learn things. the official training is something I have done in my own time. It has been a good supplement to learn how to do something more efficiently.
Graduate, Christchurch - 01 Aug 2024
I much prefer on the job training as I find I am more engaged that way and my manager has allowed my training to suit that and work you are given allows for time to train and understand the new topics while you produce work.

There is lots of AECOM University to keep you going when you first start which is great. It gives an insight into AECOMs systems and was very informative. There is often formal training for common software that may be required, and some external training opportunities do come up. A lot of software and skills I've learnt have just been from attempting tasks and having guidance from the senior that I sit next to. Everyone is often willing to help so there is no shortage of people for me to reach out to if I need assistance on something.

There is quite a lot of formal corporate training videos to get through during the onboarding process, but they're not that bad. You will naturally learn most skills on the job from your colleagues. AECOM does pay for official training courses from external providers, as long as you get permission.

I do not like the graduate program, it is very coddling. Otherwise all training has been fantastic, I particularly enjoy learning from me team mates as their experience is highly valuable.

There is an online website called AECOM uni and this has proven time and time again to be super useful when trying to upskill. The offices subscription with LinkedIn learning has also proven useful. There are also often lunch and learn events as well as other training events which are inclusive and enlightening.

On job training is amazing, hand-on experience.
Graduate, Wellington - 12 Jul 2024
AECOM uni needs to be updated in a way that's a bit more engaging- especially for software training. DPM training is so crucial but I felt as if the training videos and documents were not as helpful as having someone explain it

Great GPS programme and great support throughout my starting days

We have a graduate program that takes two years to complete and is pretty chill, with presentations and networking events. As a result, we all know much more about the ins and outs of how the consultancy operates and the skills we need to bring to make the business thrive. Many of our grads have attended further training, which AECOM has paid for, including health and safety training, CAD courses, and transport safety courses.
Graduate, Hamilton - 09 Jul 2024
The training development programs definitely give opportunities for networking and experience.
Graduate, Hamilton - 09 Jul 2024
Lots of great trainings and opportunities to train if you want to learn additional skills. I've done safety trainings, software trainings, first aid and have been open to doing an abseiling course.
Graduate, Wellington - 09 Jul 2024
The new starter training modules are fine. They are nor good or bad.
Graduate, Hamilton - 09 Jul 2024
AECOM University modules help with training, along with other internal training that I had to accomplish before heading out on field (Site Safe, etc.).
Graduate, Auckland - 10 Nov 2023
We have AECOM University accessible at any time. It is a great learning platform that is tailored to your profession. Everyone has the opportunity to learn Te Reo M?ori and a bit about other disciplines as well
Graduate, Auckland - 09 Nov 2023
A lot of it is online - which is good in terms of flexibility but I'd rather it in person and be interactive. the GPS training was good as it was in person - however it was a lot at once.
Graduate, Auckland - 09 Nov 2023
Mentor allocation of a technical lead. Online courses that are mandatory and available if wanted. Encouragement to go to other courses (e.g. Engineering NZ) and train outside of the company.
Graduate, Wellington - 09 Nov 2023
There have been many opportunities to train in both job specific and non-job specific fields
