Māori & Pasifika at Foodstuffs North Island

Working to empower our Māori and Pasifika community and support diversity and inclusion through a range of initiatives here at Foodies.

Ruia Te Kākano

Run twice a year across our Supply Chain, our Māori and Pasifika leadership programme is focused on using indigenous values to explore what leadership means for the individual. This is in the context of exploring wellbeing for themselves, their whānau, hapū, iwi and the wider Foodies team.

TupuToa Partnership

We’ve been a principal partner of Tupu Toa since 202.  Since then, we’ve supported Tupu Toa with various event sponsorship and welcomed 11 interns through our summer intern programme to support growing Māori and Pacific leaders for a greater Aotearoa.

Tupu Toa now call our Landing Drive Support Centre home after relocating their team and joining the Foodies whanau in late 2023!

“As a TupuToa intern, my journey was incredibly enriching. With the unwavering support of the leadership team and my mentors, I had the opportunity to explore each department within the Distribution Centre. Witnessing firsthand the dedication and expertise that goes into catering to customers across New Zealand was truly eye-opening. The inclusive and supportive working culture further solidified my desire to continue my journey with the organisation. The partnership between Foodstuffs and TupuToa is invaluable, providing a pathway for talented young Pasifika individuals to join Foodstuffs and contribute to its success. This collaboration not only enriches the business with diverse perspectives and skills but also ensures that these individuals feel valued and supported as they grow within the company.” – Heti Tuipoloa, Supply Chain Improvement Specialist

Māori Employee Network

Our Māori network drives mahi that creates positive outcomes for Māori employees, customers and communities. As a New Zealand owned and operated co-op, they’re about supporting Foodstuffs North Island to embrace te ao Māori in everything we do. They enhance the mana of our teams, celebrate important events and encourage the use of te reo Māori every day.
