Recruitment Intern at Fuse Recruitment
Bachelor of Business with a major in Human Resources and a minor in Marketing at Victoria University (VU)
5.00 AM
My day kicks off early at 5 AM. I like to start the morning with a walk, and it’s a routine that not only wakes me up but also gives my dog some exercise. After that, I make a quick breakfast, preparing myself for the day ahead.
5.30 AM
To make my mornings smooth, I prep the night before by laying out my outfit and packing my lunch. This means I can shower, get dressed, and head out the door without any stress. My commute starts early as I leave around 5:30 AM, catching the train from Essendon Station. It’s about a 45-minute journey to our Hawthorn office, with a changeover at Flinders Street to Glenferrie Station.
7.30 AM
I usually arrive at the office by 7:30 AM. I grab a coffee and settle into the day by checking emails and finishing any leftover tasks from the previous day. The quiet of the early morning helps me focus before the day picks up.
The first part of my morning is spent completing candidate profiles, an essential part of my role. By late morning, I shift gears to other tasks like calling candidates, conducting follow-up calls, and doing reference checks. I also attend meetings and help source candidates from various platforms for our client’s job openings.
12.00 PM
Lunch is a quieter time for me. I usually bring my lunch from home and take the time to relax. If the team is together, we catch up and share experiences. It’s a good balance between socialising and having some downtime to recharge for the afternoon.
1.00 PM
After lunch, the rest of the day is dedicated to a mix of candidate follow-ups, more sourcing, and meetings. Every day brings different challenges, which keeps the job dynamic and interesting.
3.30 PM
I wrap up my tasks by 3:30 PM, ensuring I’ve completed everything on my to-do list before signing off for the day. I make it a point to say goodbye to everyone in the office before heading out. The culture at Fuse is friendly and supportive, which has made it easy to build relationships with my colleagues.
5.00 PM
After work, my evenings vary. On some days, I head straight to AFL training, while on others, I focus on university assignments or simply unwind at home. I aim to be in bed by 9:30 PM, usually ending the day with some Netflix to relax before doing it all over again.
And that’s a typical day in my life as an intern at Fuse Recruitment. It’s a balancing act, but I enjoy every part of it, from the early mornings to the supportive work environment and everything in between.
