Recruitment Intern at Fuse Recruitment
Human Resource Management at University of Melbourne
7.00 AM
I typically wake up around 7 AM, and the first thing I do is have breakfast. My morning commute starts with catching the train from Box Hill to Glenferrie. On the way, I grab my go-to drink: a skinny iced latte with one shot and two sweeteners from Axil Coffee, which has quickly become a morning favourite.
8.00 AM
It takes me about 40 minutes to get ready in the morning, which includes breakfast and prepping to head out. I leave my house around 8 AM to catch the train, and I’m usually at the station by 8:15 AM, waiting for my ride into work.
8.30 AM
Once I get to the office around 8:30 AM, I start my day by checking Teams and my inbox to see if I’ve missed any important messages. I also take a moment to write down my to-do list for the day, which includes any screenings or tasks related to candidate profiles. As I walk in, I make sure to say “good morning” to my team and often to other colleagues I've met along the way.
The first thing I do each morning is check my inbox for new applications and any important updates. I also review my calendar to see what meetings or screenings I have scheduled. I use sticky notes to keep track of everything, which helps me stay organised throughout the day.
12.00 PM
I usually take my lunch break around 12 PM. I’m a big fan of meal-prepping, so I bring lunch from home most days. But since I love boba tea, I often treat myself to a drink during lunch. I enjoy hanging out with the team, but sometimes, I prefer spending some quiet time by myself, as I'm an introvert at heart.
1.00 PM
In the afternoon, I focus on candidate screenings with my supervisor, Sarah. During these sessions, I ask candidates about their education, work experience, and how the Graduate Program works. I try to keep the conversations engaging, and if the candidates present themselves well and seem enthusiastic, I prioritise their profiles for submission. It’s all about making connections and finding the best fit for the roles we're recruiting for.
5.30 PM
Before I sign off for the day, I check if there are any outstanding tasks that need my attention. Once everything is done, I say goodbye to my team (the Insurance and Wealth Management team) and sometimes to the colleagues sitting near me. It’s always nice to end the day with a quick chat or wave to those around.
6.00 PM
After work, I usually get home around 6 PM. My evenings are filled with a mix of activities—cooking dinner, working on university assignments, and relaxing. I enjoy journaling, scrolling through social media, and watching YouTube to wind down.
11.30 PM
I aim to go to bed around 11:30 PM. To relax before sleep, I listen to music and snuggle up with my blankets. It’s the perfect way to end a busy day, feeling satisfied and ready for the next.
This internship at Fuse Recruitment has been a fantastic experience so far, and I’ve enjoyed every aspect of the learning process. Whether it's connecting with candidates or working alongside my team, every day brings something new.
