Typically, a member of our Talent team or the hiring manager will call you to briefly discuss your application, and if it feels like we might be the right fit, we will invite you for an interview. You will have the opportunity to meet with the hiring manager directly and share your experience and interests, and we will give you a tour of the yard to provide insight to what it’s like to work at Sims. 

Due to the nature of our industry and being an ASX-listed organisation, we have a comprehensive screening process that includes conducting reference checks with your previous and/or current manager(s), a medical assessment to determine fitness for the role, verifying your right to work in the country where you are applying, and a criminal background check. 

When you join Sims in an early career role, you will be set up with a mentor to help you build knowledge of the business and help set you up for success. You will have a tailored development plan, including the opportunity to gain exposure across different areas of the business, helping you achieve your full potential.

Most of our cadet and graduate programs last for 12 – 18 months, however timing is flexible to accommodate study commitments and factor in opportunities that might become available to you before the expected program end.
