Corporate activities are linked to the standards and responsibilities of the Australian Public Service. Apart from that, the agency is taking steps to reduce the environmental impact of its activities (e.g. energy and emissions, waste). It also has an active social club that fundraises for many charities and NGOs every year.

Most people are friendly and approachable. Social Club runs a number of events; however, the team culture is quite variable from section to section.

The agency is very supportive of diversity. It also has some good workplace policies to help people work more flexibly according to their personal situation.

I have meaningful work taskings. My day-to-day work involves a combination of process driven tasks and longer term project work. It has a good mix of collaborative times and independent autonomy.

As with any organisation, this will be somewhat dependent on the personalities of those in management. On the whole, however, I have found management to be approachable and communicative.

Office is right in the city which is extremely convenient, and the offices are spacious and very nice. Dress code is fairly business casual.

Compared to other graduate application processes, CER's was quite straightforward. No unnecessary psychometric testing or group tasks, just questions and tasks that were directly applicable to the roles.

By all accounts, the CER enterprise agreement is quite generous.

Graduates at the agency undertake a separate training program, which provides a lot of fundamental skills for working in the public service. The agency also runs a suite of internal training programs, from specific courses on regulation to broader classes on effective communications.

The agency takes a flexible approach - you can start work early or finish late, as long as you communicate this with your manager/supervisor and as long as you get the work done.

The agency assesses its environmental performance (energy consumption, carbon emissions, waste generation etc.) and identifies where it could do better. It has end-of-trip facilities for staff to use when you ride your bike to work.
