Your role

About The Role:

This role presents an exciting opportunity to work across the company's Te Rapa and Waitoa sites. As Utilities Engineer for these sites, you will play a key role in Fonterra’s move away from coal. This role will be responsible for ensuring that they are maintaining their pressure and boiler assets in alignment with best practices, with a focus on cost and impact on manufacturing at their Te Rapa and Waitoa sites along with safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable energy operations.

The Utilities Engineer will be responsible for maintaining documentation and maintenance history on pressure equipment and utilising this information to drive maintenance strategy on pressure equipment. It will be key for this role to liaise with regulatory agencies and service contractors to ensure pressure equipment is maintained in accordance with NZ law and best practices. 

As part of this role, you will also undertake asset failure analysis, including facilitation and mentoring for asset-related problem-solving and management of corrective action, ensuring that their sites can continue to meet key deliverables.

About you

For this role, you will have a relevant qualification or education in mechanical or process engineering and will ideally be working towards becoming chartered. As an effective communicator, you will be able to build relationships with people at all operational levels and collaborate with other sites to share information and knowledge that will improve Fonterra’s asset management maturity. 

You will also ideally bring to this role: 

  • Experience in reliability engineering and asset reliability improvement
  • Knowledge of maintenance best practice
  • Experience in driving maintenance strategy and efficiency

Felt like I was needed within the team. Very BAU role which would otherwise require a full time equivalent. Lots of exposure to how manufacturing and quality etc work. Also lots of interaction with external vendors.
